How long have you been at Norfolk Academy?
This is my first year at Norfolk Academy.

Tell us why you wanted to become an educator:
I’ve worked with young people my whole life but mostly in an outdoor setting. I believe education and learning occurs everywhere, in all environments, with the right approach and motivation. I’m eager to step into the classroom where the learning environment looks different but our goals are still the same: to foster growth and a center of learning for young people!

What most excites you about working at Norfolk Academy?

Norfolk Academy is unique because…
..of the quality of people here. The faculty, staff, and students are exceptional in every way. Every morning when I walk into school I have to pinch myself!

What do you like to do in your own time/when you’re not working?
I’m outdoors as often as I can be: running, hiking, traveling, or simply walking my dog. I also love live music and try to follow my favorite artists to shows around the country as much as I can!

Last book read:
The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead.

Favorite food?
A North Carolina barbecue plate with all the sides and an extra large Cheerwine.

A movie is being made about your life. Who would they cast to play you?
Kate Middleton (she likes field hockey too!)
Fun fact your students might not know about you/might find surprising:
I learned to surf this fall in Portugal. It was an incredibly humbling experience and while I spent more time off the board than on it, I want to practice and get better!

“When I grow up, I want to be…”
...inspired and inspiring.
