Extracurricular Involvement:  JO/Bulldog Football, Varsity Wrestling, Varsity Softball

Mr. Runzo has been teaching Middle School Math at Norfolk Academy since 2006.  His 33-year teaching career includes 17 years with Virginia Beach Public Schools.  Mr. Runzo earned his Bachelor of Arts and his Master of Arts in Math Education from Virginia Tech.  He enjoys working with young people and has spent much of his life coaching football, baseball, and wrestling, all sports he enjoyed growing up.  However, his passion is wrestling, a sport he has been involved with for over thirty-seven years.  Coach Runzo believes much of who he is today can be attributed to the lessons he has learned and the people he has come in contact with through the sport of wrestling.  Mr. Runzo’s favorite saying is “Builds Character.”

Mr. Rahall earned his bachelor of science in international relations with distinction at the Naval Academy. While at the Academy, he was a member of the Varsity Wrestling team. He was an officer in the Marine Corps for several years where he had roles in leadership and instruction; he commanded Marines in field artillery and also supported the Marine Corps’ efforts in cyber security. Mr. Rahall then began his career in education, earning a masters in teaching in secondary science education from Brown University. He did his student teaching at a high school in Newport, RI and also taught at summer enrichment programs hosted at Brown. Mr. Rahall teaches Geometry in the Middle School and coaches football and wrestling.
