- Strong technical knowledge; basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and other key digital languages
- Experience with web analytical tools and programs, including, but not limited to, Google AdWords, Google Analytics, WordPress and social media tools preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office - especially Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent writing and communication skills with attention to detail

First Landing Charters, LLC is a full service marine chartering service that specializes in fishing, dolphin watching, and touring the coastal waters of Virginia. The intern will be exposed to all facets of this entrepreneurial enterprise. These include customer service, direct sales, marketing, and administrative tasks. Work will require the use and knowledge of the internet search engines (Google, Yelp, etc.) and social media (Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat) as well as updating email lists and exposure to marketing tools such as Google Analytics.
This paid internship has flexible start and end dates. It will last from three to six weeks with a target of at least 20 hours a week. Norfolk Academy Development Office

The Norfolk Academy Development Office offers a six-week internship (June 15 to July 24) to learn the fund-raising business. Besides learning the overall picture of fund-raising, this intern will be responsible for building a database of memorial donations to the school and working with the Development Office on stewardship and donor relations. The position will include some writing, non-soliciting phone calls, digital photography, and computer skills development. While there is flexibility of hours, the suggested work day will be 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM four days a week. This is a paid internship.
Patriotic Excursions, LLC

This student should have a GPA of 3.0 or better. A letter of recommendation from a teacher is required. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to interact with our design professionals, the current class of Summer Design Scholars (typically 3 - 4 upper-level college students), and our current Virginia Design Medalist (an architecture faculty member from an esteemed college program). The student will learn about design in collegiate and commercial environments locally and nationally, and have the opportunity to attend any concurrent HANBURY Academy sessions - our firm’s education and training forum. A career in construction is challenging, lucrative and fun! Our intern program equips young professionals with practical, job-ready skills in construction, engineering, business management, communications and leadership. Students gain a comprehensive understanding of how to succeed in the construction industry.
The program exposes students to roles in the field and the office, providing diverse experiences from working on a project site to performing cost estimates in one of our offices. Interns take an OSHA 10 safety course, learn CPR and First AID, and participate in Learning & Development and Wellness Activities.
There is also time for fun: Jobsite hard-hat tours, team luncheons, and an Intern Team Challenge that may include a scavenger hunt, obstacle course, field day, and other team-bonding activities.

Tidewater Arts Outreach’s mission is to bring joy to older adults and enhance their well-being through creative engagement with the arts.
The Social Media and Data Intern will provide social media and marketing support with tasks related to social media posting, website editing, virtual programming (via Zoom), and database projects. The intern may also assist with virtual program hosting.

Since 1988, ForKids has led the fight to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty for families and children in Hampton Roads. The ForKids Development Team works to further public awareness of our homeless community’s needs and the services ForKids provides. Community relations play an important role in raising support for these services and clients. A Development Internship is available for this summer. This opportunity will provide a unique experience for individuals with an interest in non-profit development and communications. The student intern will divide time among four aspects of Development: 1) community and media relations, 2) special events, 3) volunteer recruitment and management, and 4) community fundraising. The intern will learn how to communicate effectively to the community at large about the work that ForKids is doing, with the end goal of garnering support.
