Peyton Randolph '21

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

“I have forged so many relationships at this school, I can't fathom it. So many coaches, so many teachers, and so many friends. Without a doubt, I will continue to stay in touch, wherever I may end up.”

Three Words to Describe the Class of 2021: Resilient, Passionate, Comical

Favorite Refectory Meal: Pizza Bagels

Most Meaningful Activity
Norfolk Academy Football. The relationships I created with my coaches and teammates will stay with me for life. I made so many memories, whether it was in games, practice, or Saturday lifts. I love being a part of NA Football.

A Favorite Memory
My favorite tradition was the Joy Fund basketball game. I loved to watch the seniors make their marks against the teachers.
Reflections on Learning
My best classroom experience was in Film, getting to create a movie trailer with friends.
Inspirational Teacher-Coach
Coach Monninger had a serious impact on me as a person and athlete. He taught me how to be a better teammate, and I carry those lessons throughout all aspects of life. Also, Coach Monninger pushed me to become stronger physically, which made my high school athletic career more worthwhile. I love that Coach Monninger has a positive outlook on everything, and takes on every task, big or small, with an amazing attitude that I will always try to emulate.

A Quick Word About Peyton
“Peyton Randolph accomplishes life in magnificent balance. A life rich with the joys associated with having a vast web of strong friendships, the pride associated with achievements born of hard work, and the integrity and honor associated with putting the needs of others before his own. He is a tenacious student, athlete, and community leader, who is motivated by pushing himself to outpace those around him in terms of effort, while remaining acutely sensitive to the ways he might raise up the people in his midst. It is a tricky equilibrium, maintaining focus on personal growth and development while keeping eyes on the prize of the greater good, but Peyton makes it look easy. He’s smart, kind, talented - an everyman and a standout all at once.” ~ Mrs. Jennifer Scott, Peyton’s College Counselor

The thing that most makes me a Bulldog is… my wanting to make new relationships.
