Exciting Choices

Lindsay Kay '21

James Madison University

“Norfolk Academy has left a lasting impact on me through my interaction with teachers both inside and outside the classroom. Teachers make the effort to get to know their students and connect with them, which has made it easier for me to have conversations with adults.”

Peer Counselor, CHKD Club, Reach/Interact Club, NA-TV, Leadership Lab

Three Adjectives to Describe the Class of 2021: Resilient, Adaptable, Motivated

Most Meaningful Activity
One of my favorite extracurricular activities has been Reach/Interact Club. I love everything that this club stands for, and I love that we do so many things to help the community.

Beyond the Classroom
Peer Counseling has been one of my favorite non-classroom experiences. While I only became a Peer Counselor this year, it has been so much fun. I love that I’m able to help and give back to students in our own NA community.

Reflections on Learning
My best classroom experience was Dr. Kidd’s Gender and Its Discontents English class. I took this class first semester of my senior year, and it quickly became my favorite class that I have taken at NA. The entire class was fascinating and Dr. Kidd was always so engaging.

Inspirational Teacher-Coach
Mrs. Zito is the teacher who has had the biggest impact on me as a person, and who has made me that much more passionate about English. I have been fortunate enough to have her at least once every year that I have been in the Upper School. Mrs. Zito is so passionate about everything, which makes me excited to be in her class, and to be around her outside of class.

A Quick Word About Lindsay
“Lindsay is an incredibly hard-working student who has consistently provided strong character leadership in my class. Lindsay is thoughtful and kind, and cares about others deeply. She’s a strong writer with a creative mind. Her tremendous work ethic and compassion for others will take her far in life and in higher education. She will be an asset to her college community. I will miss seeing her in my classes!” ~ Mrs. Charlotte Zito, Lindsay’s English Teacher

The thing that most makes me a Bulldog is… my loyalty.
