Three Words to Describe the Class of 2021: Optimistic, Willful, Funny
What I Will Miss Most About NA: The camaraderie we all feel as students
Most Meaningful Activity
One of my favorite extracurricular activities has been NA’s outstanding tennis program. The late nights, full laughs, and overall happiest memories I’ve had have all taken place throughout my years on the team.
Beyond the Classroom
One of my favorite non-classroom experiences has been the Homecoming weekends. Nothing can beat a nice fall night cheering on the football team in blue and orange, followed by a day filled with friends and dancing!
Reflections on Learning
Some of my best classroom experiences have been through the Yearbook. Hands-on editing, fun brainstorming, and getting to chat with Señora Glascock made me fall in love with the process and have given me so many happy memories.
Ms.Nasimiyu has most definitely had the biggest impact on me as a person. From Global Health Fellows to Leadership Lab to Advisory to Advanced Bio, she has been with me through it all, and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Her pure care for every student she encounters has made her someone I look up to and aspire to be like in life.
The Academy Difference
Norfolk Academy has taught me the utmost importance of relationships through every avenue of life.
A Quick Word About Ella
“In addition to Ella’s academic prowess and dedication to serve, she possesses a deep sense of purpose, introspection, and empathy that is greatly needed in our world. Her most notable gift is making connections with others. Her ability to ask incredible ice breaker questions is a unique and overlooked quality. I can vividly remember a time when we experienced a flight cancellation that forced us to drive two hours to an alternate airport. Everyone was exhausted and anxious but amid the chaos, Ella came to the rescue with one of her questions. The impact of her uplifting spirit and laughter is unforgettable. To some this might seem like a small act, but it resonated with me and her peers. Ella embarks on this new journey in life, with the ability to see challenges for their possibilities, intuition to build bridges with others, and desire to contribute to our world. I feel honored to have seen the growth of such an extraordinary young woman.” ~ Ms. Yonne Nasimiyu, Ella’s Advanced Biology Teacher and Fellows Associate Director
