University of Virginia
“I have left my impact on NA as Co-President of the Girl Up Club. I think it’s important to have uncomfortable, thought-provoking conversations with your peers, and I believe Girl Up provides a safe space for those kinds of discussions. I hope that I have inspired my friends to be more confident and maintain their integrity in their actions and words.”

Three Words to Describe the Class of 2021: Driven, Accepting, Eclectic
What are you most looking forward to in college? The responsibility of making choices for myself
Most Meaningful Activity
The varsity swim team is my favorite extracurricular activity because it was the first real team I had been on. It showed me the importance of being a part of something bigger than myself, and it gave me goals to work toward and a supportive family to fall back on.
A Favorite Memory
I enjoyed the pep rallies before Homecoming and watching the dances that the seniors had choreographed. It was cool to be a part of such a fun community and it got me hyped for the events that were to come later in the weekend.
Reflections on Learning
Dr. Kidd’s Philosophical Literature class gave me some of my favorite classroom memories. Dr. Kidd dedicated a whole class period to “bathing us in weird” to expose us to absurdism and other schools of thought. As a class, we published a collection of essays and shared them with some of the faculty members, which I was proud to have been a part of.
Mr. Warsaw was my advisor and French teacher in 10th and 11th grade, and he consistently pushed me to reach my full potential. His sense of humor took a bit of getting used to, but he helped me transition into the Upper School and take pride in the effort I put into everything I do. I always felt like I could go to him, whether I needed help with his class or life advice or just a good laugh.
A Quick Word About Christy
“In my 26 years of teaching, Christy is one of the most coherently well integrated students that I have ever had the pleasure to know. She is a positive source of support and insight in any learning environment. She is a creative, independent, and passionate thinker. She is insightful, sensitive, and deeply driven to explore. Her work of the past three years has clearly demonstrated an original vision and penchant for developing innovative ideas that make creative risk taking seem like second nature to her. Christy, in short, is in pursuit of excellence. I would dare to say she is exceptional among a group of peers that are in themselves quite an exceptional group.” ~ Mr. Knox Garvin, Christy’s Art Teacher
