“I think NA is one of the best high schools in the country and offers opportunities that others cannot. Every day I come to school, I see it as an opportunity to get better and smarter.”
Varsity Soccer, Happy Club, Military Appreciation Club
Favorite Refectory Meal: Grilled cheese and tomato soup
What I Will Miss Most about NA: The whole NA community because it’s my second family
Most Meaningful Activity
I enjoyed my time on the JV and Varsity Soccer teams. I was new to school in the ninth grade, and the first thing I did as a Norfolk Academy student was attend JV soccer tryouts. Because of this, many of my teammates were my first friends at the school, so the soccer team holds a special place in my heart.
Reflections on Learning
My best classroom experience at NA has to be Western Civilization with Mr. Oberdorfer. Mr. O is an NA legend, and his knowledge of world history is endless. I loved his class because world history is interesting to me, and he did a great job making class enjoyable. He has some of the best stories of anyone I have met.
Coach Tucker is the teacher-coach who had the biggest impact on me during my time at NA. As I said earlier, my first experience at NA was JV Soccer during the summer, and Coach Tucker made me feel like I belonged. He made sure I always had someone to talk to, and I can't thank him enough for that.
The Academy Difference
Norfolk Academy has made me value honor and honesty. I think the school has instilled in us that honor is always the best option.
A Quick Word About Andrew
“The hallmarks of Andrew’s character are a finely tuned sense of stick-to-it-iveness, a quiet resiliency that has profoundly shaped his ability to tackle challenges both big and small, and a down-to-earth, easygoing nature that makes him easy to befriend. We have benefitted tremendously from Andrew’s happy-go-lucky persona, his boundless curiosity and his ability to exemplify perseverance at its finest. He is someone who proves that character counts, and we are so very proud of all that he has accomplished as a Bulldog.” ~ Mrs. Wendy Livingston, Andrew’s College Counselor
The thing that most makes me a Bulldog is…my desire to always get better.
