“Norfolk Academy has taught me how to command a stage and talk about issues that mean a lot to me.”

Peer Counselor, Spring Play, Book Club (President), Aftercare Counselor

Three Words to Describe the Class of 2021: Diverse, Social, Strong-minded

Most Meaningful Activity
The spring play is one of NA's best-kept secrets. Although the musical is thrilling and there are so many participants, I enjoy the smaller family that we create as a cast and crew during the shorter spring season.

Beyond the Classroom
During my free bells in the Middle and Upper School, I would go to the music rooms at the Tucker Arts Center and play the piano. I loved being able to use the practice rooms as an outlet from schoolwork and write music there.

Inspirational Teacher-Coach
I first had Mr. McMahon in ninth grade for World Cultures, and I got him again for Political Philosophy and Ethics this year. I have always been interested in ethics, and his class has gotten me to care more about who I am and what I am doing. He has taught me to follow politics because it does concern me. His influence on me has been intersectional, and I think if any teacher has changed my actions and who I am as a person, it has been him.

Making My Mark
I participated in two different exchanges during my Norfolk Academy career: one in China and a long-term one in Spain. Especially alone in Spain, I did my best to embrace the culture and use the leadership skills that NA has taught me. I have become an ambassador for our school, and I believe that it has tied into who I am on campus.

A Quick Word About Alexandra
“Alexandra not only identifies with those deemed to be different, she also affirms them, embraces them, celebrates them. She is a magnanimous bridge-builder because she helps others to see differences not as aberrant but rather as beautiful. Alexandra is always willing to speak her truth and to stand up for what she believes in. I am heartened to think of her as someone who will help shape not only her college campus but also our collective future. We need thoughtful, passionate, outgoing, open-minded, insatiably curious individuals such as her to be decisionmakers, thought leaders and shining examples of what we can and should be.” ~ Mrs. Wendy Livingston, Alexandra’s College Counselor

The thing that most makes me a Bulldog is…my open-mindedness.
