Inspirational Teacher Coach
Mr. Barton always encouraged me to keep making art even when I had no confidence to do so. He maintains a very positive energy and never hesitates to help a student who needs it. His belief in my abilities has been a major factor in continuing my passion for art over the years.
One small thing that had a big impact on me was Free Read Friday during middle school English classes. It was nice to be able to take a class period to read something that I enjoyed, and it created a love of literature within me. It made me more curious about things outside of my school work and led to some of my current interests, such as writing stories and music.
I don’t know exactly what I want to do yet, but I do know that I want a creative career. My time spent in the art room has been my most valuable time at school. I’ve been able to push past my limits and learn so much about myself by making art, and it’s something I want to do in some way for the rest of my life.
The Academy Difference
The teachers at this school care so much about all of the students, including the ones they don’t teach. They’ve inspired me to practice selflessness and to show compassion and empathy for others.
The thing that most makes me a Bulldog is…my authenticity.
