 | Alumni Class Correspondent  Each alumni class has one or more class correspondent who communicate with classmates to collect class notes and/or feature stories to be used in The Academy, our School magazine. Class correspondents serve as a link between the academy and their classmates.

 Annual Giving Phonathon/Emailathon Parents, parents of alumni, and alumni help make phone calls or send emails on behalf of Norfolk Academy one or two nights in the fall and/or spring for the annual giving campaign.

 Athletic Physicals – Monday, May 20, 2013
Doctors and nurses are needed to assist from 4:00-6:00 p.m. with physicals given yearly to our students who plan to try out for athletic teams. This is a onetime physical that covers the entire year of play.

 Auction – Saturday, November 3, 2012 Acquisitions: (2-3 weeks early fall) – Solicit returning and new auction items. We will provide committee members with a list of returning items. We ask the acquisitions committee to help contact new prospects.
Auction Book Authors: (2 weeks in early October) – Committee members proof the auction book before delivering to the printer and placing online.
Auction Book Editors: (2 weeks in late September) – Committee members write package entries for the auction book and online auction. Creative writing is encouraged.
Bar Cashiers: (Night of event) – Bar Cashiers tend bar for a 1 hour shift during the night of the event. 15-20 people needed.
Checkout: (Night of event) – Committee assists during the closing of silent, super silent and live sections of the night. Members will work a 1 hour shift.
Class Baskets: (2-3 weeks in late September/early October) – Committee Members will be assigned to each classroom in the Lower School grades 1-6 to help coordinate the class basket. The theme is assigned by the co-chairs to each class.
Class Projects: (2-3 weeks in October) - Committee Members will be assigned to each classroom in the Lower School grades 1-6 to help coordinate the class project. The theme is developed by each grade. We will have one project per 1st grade class and one project per grades 2-5.
Clean Up: (Night of event) – Committee members with help with the clean up of the Pavilion 1-2 hours post event. Examples include moving of auction items, breakdown of tables, collection of linens and rentals.
Decorations: (2-3 weeks in late October and week leading up to the event) – Committee members will be the creative team for the event. Creativity and logistics to include ordering of rentals are required from these committee members.
Hospitality: (2-3 weeks in late October, week leading up to the event and night of event) – Committee handles the table reservations, online payments, check/cash payments, event day packets, and greeting participants during the night of the event. Microsoft Excel experience is helpful.
Online Auction: (2-3 weeks in late September and early October) – Committee handles all aspects of the online auction. Creative writing and use of the Cmarket software is required.
Set Up: (2-3 weeks leading up to the event) – Committee is in charge of the set up of the Pavilion to include dinner table placement, auction item sections and bar setup. 5-10 people needed.
Student Art Contest: (2-3 Weeks in Early in September and week leading up to the event) – Plan and execute a student art contest for students related to the theme. Committee will choose the theme, medium, and organize the contest to be held in late September. Committee will decorate the Pavilion with the art work during the week leading up to the event.
Underwriting: (July-October) – Committee will help find new underwriting prospects and will assist in the follow up of all “asks.”

 Baking  Bake homemade cookies, cakes, brownies, etc. Or prepare cheese and fruit platters to be sent to school for special occasions and receptions. |

 Book Binding Bind together student or school-related publications using a binding machine and plastic ring binders. The work is easy and simple. Volunteers are needed for several hours, half-days, or full-days. |

 Bookstore Helper Volunteers are needed to work either the morning shift (8:00am-12pm), the afternoon shift (12:00pm-4:00pm) or to be an emergency fill-in. Duties include cashiering, re-stocking and general straightening. No retail experience necessary. |

 Community Service Assist teachers in the Middle School with community-involved projects including driving students to different organizations. Community Service takes place weekly on Wednesday afternoons between 1:00 and 3:15 p.m. Middle School

 Destination Imagination  Think outside the box! Work with small groups of students from each division to prepare for an academic competition that includes debate, improvisation, and simulation problems.  Field Day - Saturday, May 4, 2013 Bring your ideas and enthusiasm to this great tradition of family fun that features student games and contest, entertainment, raffle prizes, annual golf and tennis tournaments, Art Gallery, Garden and “Love and Elbow” just to name a few.  Fine Arts  Assist with various projects, activities, performances, and events in the John H. Tucket Jr., Arts Center. A separate mailing will follow with more detailed information and specific areas of volunteer need. |

 Flower Arranging/Plant Care Assist with arrangements for special occasions throughout the year. Floral arrangements are needed for receptions, dinners, Admissions Open Houses, Graduation, and other events around the school. Each season presents special opportunities to decorate. |

 Healthy Snack Helpers  Help us provide healthy snacks to the lower school students. We serve fresh fruit, whole grains, no sugar, and a fun variety for the kids! Unpack cases and stock snack shelves for the lower school snack, or deliver fresh fruit for fruit snack days. We are looking for volunteers for snack restocking (one day a week for a few minutes in the morning), fruit clean up (Thursday or Friday morning at the school), fresh fruit preparation some Wednesday mornings (like slicing oranges or pineapple), or fresh fruit pickup in Norfolk. We especially need the last -- people who could pick up fresh fruit (two 30 lb cases) at the Organic Food Depot (19th and Granby in Norfolk) on Tuesday afternoon and bring it to the school for Lower School snack on Wednesday morning (only a few times during the year).

 Homecoming Festivities Sell tickets, work in the bookstore or "spiritwear" table, or help with set-up and clean-up at the cookout before the football game on Saturday, October 10, 2009. |

 Hospitality Serve as host/hostess for Admissions Open House or other special occasions. Responsibilities can include evenings or weekend events. |

 Library Aides - Batten Library (Middle and Upper Schools) Batten library (Upper School) needs volunteers to assist with daily tasks such as shelving, book and magazine processing, as well as special tasks such as inventory or project development. Volunteers donate a morning or afternoon each week.

 Red Cross Blood Drive The Upper School Red Cross Club sponsors three blood drives during the school year. Donors include students, parents, and faculty. A parent volunteer is needed to help with the check-in process. Blood drives run during the school day. It is a satisfying way to help the students at NA and make a difference in the lives of people in our community. |

 Substituting  Add your name to our Substitute List for any school division. Interested persons with a teaching degree may sign up by going to the WebSite and complete the application.
