• Students must be 19 year of age or under with at least three years of experience on an orchestral instrument and be serious about increasing their musical skills. Students do not have to be members of Bay Youth Orchestras of Virginia to participate.
• Students applying for the Symphony Orchestra must audition on April 21 and make an appointment to audition. Students will be placed in the other appropriate ensembles on the first day. Excerpts are available on the website (www.norfolkacademy.org/bayyouth). You may be asked to sight read and play scales as well.
• Students must supply their own instruments.
• Sectional coaches and private teachers will be Virginia Symphony members.
• All students will participate in music theory, ear training, conducting, and composition classes.
• Transportation is not provided. Students should bring a bag lunch or plan to purchase at Norfolk Academy for $6/day or $25/week. There will be access to a snack shop. Upon acceptance, you will receive a medical form via email which must be returned by June 4, 2012.
• Tuition: $250. Private lessons are available at an additional cost ($50/hour or $25/half hour) and will be scheduled before 9:00 am or after 3:00 pm.
• The camp will culminate in a grand concert in the Samuel C. Johnson Theater at Norfolk Academy at 4:00 pm on Friday, June 29 followed by a family reception
