Event and Training Assistant
We do a wide variety of events and trainings each summer for teachers and the general public. This intern will work with both the Education Coordinator and the Outreach Coordinator to assist with information tables at various festivals and fairs. The intern will assist with our kayak and bike tours as well as our plant and bird walks. Additionally, he/she will help assemble materials for teacher trainings and assist at training events.One of the assistant’s responsibilities at events and trainings will be photographing the event. This internship will require 60 – 80 hours total throughout various times during the summer. This position could be shared by more than one intern.

Pilot Targeted Media is offering two internships for the summer of 2014. Both are for students curr ently earning a four-year degree with a demonstrated interest in the profession that the internships focus on. A "demonstrated interest" could be supported by the student’s major subject area or by participation in extracurricular activities that indicate the student’s clear interest in exploring the profession’s focus. For example, a student applying for an internship in journalism could demonstrate interest by having worked at the university’s student newspaper or other literary enterprise. Business and Marketing Assistant, Pilot Targeted Media
The student/intern will work in various operations of Pilot Targeted Media supporting marketing and sales efforts for new ventures, print publications, digital operations, and events. The intern will likely rotate among several businesses such as military publications, targeted marketing, and a range of events tied to business and other subject matter. The intern will be tasked with a range of duties such as support of sales people, joint sales presentations to advertising and other clients, and logistical support of events. Duties are likely to include appointment setting with clients, writing of marketing proposals, creation of power point and other presentations, and direct communications with clients. The internship will span two to three months (mid-May to mid-August) based on the student’s availability and college schedule. Editorial Assistant, Inside Business
The student/intern will work on the staff of Inside Business, a weekly business news journal that serves 8,500 executive decision makers in Hampton Roads. The intern will support the reporting and editing staff through numerous duties such as collecting and editing people news, press releases, fact checking, compilation of lists, and administrative tasks related to executive events and panel discussions. Based on interest and ability, the intern also will be given the opportunity to report and write news and features for Inside Business. This is an exciting opportunity to blend a passion for sailing with an interest in non-profit management. As an assistant sailing intern, you will assist the Adult and Youth Program Managers with the day-to-day responsibilities of running a community sailing center. The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Norfolk Division, is a trial court in the federal court system that hears a wide variety of criminal and civil cases.
