| | What is Breakthrough?
Breakthrough at Norfolk Academy is a tuition-free, academic enrichment program designed to prepare motivated Norfolk public middle school students for success in college-preparatory high school programs and to provide talented high school and college students with hands-on teaching experience that will inspire them to pursue careers in education. The program consists of a full school day for six weeks in the summer. Students take literature, language arts, history, math, and science classes in addition to electives as diverse as foreign language, photography, dance, and journalism. The school-year program consists of one Super Saturday per month, in which Breakthrough students come to campus for tutoring and workshops, and participate in community service projects.
Breakthrough at Norfolk Academy is an affiliate of the national non-profit Breakthrough Collaborative, of which there are 25 affiliated sites across the United States and in Hong Kong.
Breakthrough at Norfolk Academy reflects the school's commitment to serving the greater Norfolk community, and is made possible in large part thanks to the support of our generous donors. |
