Batten Library
Cooper Library
The Batten Library is central to promoting research and reading in the life of the school. The librarians work closely with the upper and middle school faculty to integrate research projects into the curriculum and to teach students the skills and strategies they need to conduct research thoughtfully and effectively. Our library staff is also committed to helping our students develop a love of reading. The library is well stocked with popular fiction and non-fiction books, and our librarians are always happy to recommend books to students and faculty. In addition, the library hosts a number of special events to promote pleasure reading, including author visits and the school’s bi-annual Book Fest.

The Batten library building is located centrally on the Norfolk Academy campus and is a hub of activity. Batten houses over 25,000 books and provides access to over 50 databases and over 3,000 e-books. In the library, students can find some great books, gather sources for research, collaborate on assignments, or find a quiet spot to study. Students make frequent use of the tables, carrels, and armchairs located throughout the library as well as the small group study rooms, the Johnson Computer Lab, and the Landmark Presentation Hall.
